About Me
First and foremost, if you’re reading this page, thank you in all sincerity. Secondly, I want to share just a little bit of personal background about myself so you have an understanding of who I am and my motivations behind creating intelligent DFS. I’m not a professional DFS player and I don’t have an unlimited bankroll. I still have a traditional corporate job, 2 kids full of activities, and a girlfriend I love to travel with. Being successful at DFS has provided me an opportunity to improve my situation, which took me a while to realize. I went to a 4 year college and have always had a desire to do something entrepreneurial, but never had the courage to try something outside of my very comfortable corporate sales role. Like a lot of us, my job completely changed during Covid and “Enterprise Sales” for technology platforms and implementation, greatly slowed. It seemed the whole world promoted the concept of a “side hustle,” that I never went after. Until now!
For the last 3.5 years I’ve been conceptualizing and testing things in the DFS space. I hired a data scientist to look at flagship PGA contests to validate my hypothesis that the majority of unique people playing are entering under 10 lineups and likely not already investing in subscription services. I believe this is fairly representative of the casual DFS player we are aiming to help. I conducted various focus groups with casual players who understood some basic concepts of DFS but didn’t play regularly or felt they were lighting money on fire. I was asked repeatedly by neighbors, friends, and family how I was doing this and kept winning five and six figure payouts. The answer was that I spent a lot of time and energy researching and learning about who and how to play each week, trying to find an edge, something that true casual players simply are not doing
Now I’m in a spot personally and professionally where it’s time to make a change. I combined my background in business, technology and systems, with my passion for DFS, data, and analytics to create a strategy that has helped me profit nearly $150,000 playing PGA alone on DraftKings. However, in order to have this make sense from a business standpoint, I know I absolutely have to deliver something valuable each and every week.
I recognize that the casual player isn’t as obsessed in the data and analysis as I am. Nor is the casual player as devoted to doing research or consuming content as I am. However, the casual player is most definitely at a competitive disadvantage week after week without the help of data, analysis, tools, or services.
Approach Angles was created to deliver tangible and actionable insights directly to the phones of casual DFS players without the need for expensive tools, subscriptions, or services and without the time required to conduct their own research. Approach Angles was created to help casual DFS players construct more intelligent lineups that will provide more opportunities for a large ROI.
